Terms of Use

  1. The Standard Chartered Great City Race is open to employees of companies and businesses. Company and employee eligibility shall be decided by the event organisers, London Marathon Events Ltd (LMEL), whose decisions shall be final. By submitting your application, you are agreeing to enter into the Event and also agree to abide by these Conditions of Entry and any instructions given to you by the organisers and officials of the Event.
  2. You must register a minimum of four entrants to take part.
  3. Team members must be at least 18 years of age on 20 July 2021
  4. Details of each participating team member must be included on your team's entry console in order to be entered officially and to be eligible to run. By agreeing to be included on their company's entry console, runners certify that they are medically fit to run and fulfil the previously listed employment requirements.
  5. Participation in the Event is personal to the team member; they are strictly prohibited from swapping, selling or transferring or offering to sell, swap or transfer the place in the Event. Any breach of this Condition shall render the entry void. If you are found to be in breach of this Condition we reserve the right to exclude you from participation in future Events.
  6. Due to the large number of entries to be processed, all company teams and team members acknowledge that company and individual entries which do not qualify under these rules, whether or not they have been accepted initially by LMEL either before or after the event, may be disqualified.
  7. LMEL reserves the right to make additions, changes, or clarifications to the Event or these rules without prior notice to company teams or team members. LMEL will endeavour to advise teams of any rule change prior to the Event, but any such change shall be considered binding upon all company teams and team members whether or not a team or team member has received notice of the change prior to the race.
  8. All rules are subject to interpretation by LMEL. All decisions of LMEL are final.
  9. LMEL reserves the right to reject or disqualify any entrant or team whose conduct is inappropriate to the spirit of the Event. It is expected that teams and team members will represent their company in the Standard Chartered Great City Race in a sportsmanlike and professional manner.
  10. Violation of any of the rules indicated herein may result in disqualification of any runner, team, and/or entire company for this and/or future events. The decision of LMEL is final.
  11. All Event entry fees are non-refundable.
  12. In no event shall we be liable whether for breach of contract, any tortious act or omission (including negligence) or otherwise, under or in connection with the Agreement for any loss or damage; loss of profit; loss of reputation; loss of business, revenue or goodwill; loss of anticipated savings; pledges made on your behalf or by you to charity; or consequential or indirect loss, regardless of whether the loss or damage (a) would arise in the ordinary course of events;(b) is reasonably foreseeable; or(c) is in the contemplation of the parties, or otherwise.
  13. Nothing in this Agreement shall affect our liability for death or personal injury, fraud, or any other liability to the extent it cannot be excluded or limited by law.
  14. To the extent permitted by the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977, neither LMEL nor Standard Chartered PLC will be liable for any loss, damage, illness or injury whatsoever directly or indirectly occasioned by or resulting from the negligence, wrongful act or default of the LMEL, Standard Chartered PLC or their respective servants or agents or from any other cause, including any act of God or the physical condition of the participant.
  15. This agreement shall be governed by English law, and the parties hereby agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

Participant Terms & Conditions

In entering the 2021 Standard Chartered Great City Race (the ‘Event’), You (meaning the entrant to the Event or, where you are submitting an application as a parent or guardian for a child aged under 18 for whom you are responsible, your child) agree that:

  1. Liability – to the extent permitted by law, neither London Marathon Events Limited (‘LMEL’ or ‘Organiser’) nor its sponsors or suppliers will be liable for any loss, harm, damage, illness or injury howsoever caused (directly or indirectly), arising out of or in connection with or, suffered during or as a result of, the participation in the Event, provided always that nothing shall exclude liability for death or personal injury caused directly by the negligence of the Organiser and/or its employees, subcontractors or agents.
  2. Medical – you agree that:
    1. Your personal information (including medical information entered on the race number or collected by event medical staff during or after the Event can be stored, used and disclosed by LMEL in connection with the organisation and administration of the Event and for the compilation of statistical information. If you become ill during or after the Event and/or receive medical attention or treatment either from event medical staff, St John Ambulance or any doctor or hospital, you authorise such persons to provide details (including details of medical treatment) to the event Medical Director or others authorised by her/him.
    2. You consent to medical assistance and/or medical care being given to you in the case of illness, injury or an emergency, should this occur during the Event, such assistance to be given by the Organiser, its employees and/or contractors or other trained personnel conducting the Event (which may include the use of anaesthetics).
    3. You warrant that you will be sufficiently fit and healthy to participate in the Event unaided and in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
    4. The Organiser may from time to time issue reasonable rules or conditions to deal with Covid-19 including concerning testing, social distancing or the use of monitoring or tracking devices or software. You warrant that you will comply with all such rules or conditions.
  3. You warrant that you will abide by the Laws and Rules for competition of World Athletics, British Athletics, England Athletics and the IPC, that you will be 15 years or over on the day your complete the Event (Tuesday 20 July), that you will complete the Event on foot and will not use any wheeled device (unless otherwise permitted under the General Conditions of Entry), any artificial aid, any item that could potentially inhibit the flow or safety of other participants or which LMEL, in its reasonable opinion, deem may cause danger or risk of danger to you or to other participants.   4. Entries to the Event are personal to you. You are strictly prohibited from swapping, selling or transferring or offering to sell, swap or transfer your place in the Event. Any entry that is transferred or offered to transfer will be void.
  5. Multiple entries to the Event will result in all your entries being disqualified.
  6. Should LMEL cancel the Event or be prevented from holding the Event, your entry may, at LMEL’s discretion, be rolled over to a future edition of the Event or you may receive a refund of the entry fee.
  7. You agree that we may publish your personal information as part of the results of the Event and may pass such information to the governing body or any affiliated organisation for the purpose of insurance, permits or for publishing results either for the Event alone or combined with or compared to other Events. Results may include (but not be limited to) name, any club affiliation, race times, occupation and age category.

    We also use your personal information in accordance with our privacy policy including:
    1. To process any application you make to participate in any of our events;
    2. To track your progress in any of our events;
    3. To send you health and safety and other relevant event information for any LMEL events that you are participating in;
    4. To notify you of events, activities, publications or services that may be of interest to you should you consent to receiving these from us;
    5. To comply with our statutory and regulatory obligations;
    6. In the case of images and/or footage, in accordance with our privacy policy.
  8. You understand and consent to the fact that during the Event, various filming, photography and broadcasting takes place. You hereby consent to photographs, filming and sound recording of you while participating in the Event and grant your permission, free of charge, to LMEL, its licensees and those authorised by it, to use such photographs, films and recordings (including any copies) and for your image, likeness and voice to be included in pictures and/or on film and/or audio broadcasts or transmissions (including the publication on the internet and on social media) and their exploitation and advertising without compensation or credit such use shall last in perpetuity.
  9. You acknowledge and agree that:
    1. Running is an endurance sport;
    2. You should only undertake such an activity to a level which reflects your level of fitness;
    3. You are responsible for monitoring your own physical condition prior to and during participation in the Event;
    4. You agree that your participation in the Event is for recreational and/or charity fundraising purposes only and you will not participate in the Event for any commercial or business purpose. The Organiser will have no liability to you for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption, or other loss of business opportunity.
  10. By submitting your application you warrant that the information you have and will provide is accurate and true. You must not use any false information or misrepresent the information of another person as applying to you. Anyone who uses false or misleading information or documents in order to gain entry will have their registration cancelled and may be banned from future events. The use of false documents to obtain an entry may be a criminal offence.
