Terms of Use

  1. The Standard Chartered Great City Race is open to employees of companies and businesses. Company and employee eligibility shall be decided by the event organisers, London Marathon Events Ltd (LMEL), whose decisions shall be final. By submitting your application, you are agreeing to enter into the Event and also agree to abide by these Conditions of Entry and any instructions given to you by the organisers and officials of the Event.
  2. You must register a minimum of four entrants to take part.
  3. Team members must be at least 18 years of age on 21 July 2020
  4. Details of each participating team member must be included on your team's entry console in order to be entered officially and to be eligible to run. By agreeing to be included on their company's entry console, runners certify that they are medically fit to run and fulfil the previously listed employment requirements.
  5. Participation in the Event is personal to the team member; they are strictly prohibited from swapping, selling or transferring or offering to sell, swap or transfer the place in the Event. Any breach of this Condition shall render the entry void. If you are found to be in breach of this Condition we reserve the right to exclude you from participation in future Events.
  6. Due to the large number of entries to be processed, all company teams and team members acknowledge that company and individual entries which do not qualify under these rules, whether or not they have been accepted initially by LMEL either before or after the event, may be disqualified.
  7. LMEL reserves the right to make additions, changes, or clarifications to the Event or these rules without prior notice to company teams or team members. LMEL will endeavour to advise teams of any rule change prior to the Event, but any such change shall be considered binding upon all company teams and team members whether or not a team or team member has received notice of the change prior to the race.
  8. All rules are subject to interpretation by LMEL. All decisions of LMEL are final.
  9. LMEL reserves the right to reject or disqualify any entrant or team whose conduct is inappropriate to the spirit of the Event. It is expected that teams and team members will represent their company in the Standard Chartered Great City Race in a sportsmanlike and professional manner.
  10. Violation of any of the rules indicated herein may result in disqualification of any runner, team, and/or entire company for this and/or future events. The decision of LMEL is final.
  11. All Event entry fees are non-refundable.
  12. In no event shall we be liable whether for breach of contract, any tortious act or omission (including negligence) or otherwise, under or in connection with the Agreement for any loss or damage; loss of profit; loss of reputation; loss of business, revenue or goodwill; loss of anticipated savings; pledges made on your behalf or by you to charity; or consequential or indirect loss, regardless of whether the loss or damage (a) would arise in the ordinary course of events;(b) is reasonably foreseeable; or(c) is in the contemplation of the parties, or otherwise.
  13. Nothing in this Agreement shall affect our liability for death or personal injury, fraud, or any other liability to the extent it cannot be excluded or limited by law.
  14. To the extent permitted by the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977, neither LMEL nor Standard Chartered PLC will be liable for any loss, damage, illness or injury whatsoever directly or indirectly occasioned by or resulting from the negligence, wrongful act or default of the LMEL, Standard Chartered PLC or their respective servants or agents or from any other cause, including any act of God or the physical condition of the participant.
  15. This agreement shall be governed by English law, and the parties hereby agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

Participant Terms & Conditions

  • Entries into the 2020 Standard Chartered Great City Race (the ‘Event’) are personal to the entrant. After the entry deadline of 17:00 on Friday 17 July, places cannot be transferred to another entrant. Entries are subject to general terms and conditions above.
  • Liability – to the extent permitted by law, neither London Marathon Events Limited (LMEL) nor its sponsors or suppliers will be liable for any loss, harm, damage, illness or injury however so caused (directly or indirectly), arising out of or in connection with or, suffered during or as a result of, the participation in the Event, provided always that nothing shall exclude liability for death or personal injury caused directly by the negligence of the organiser or its employees.
  • Personal Information:
    • For the purposes of this section, personal information includes any data or information about you that is described as ‘personal data’ and/or ‘sensitive personal data’ in the Data Protection Act 1998 (which includes your name, photos, medical data and other information about you including the company that you work for (‘Personal Information’). References to our partners includes Standard Chartered PLC and any other third parties with which we may work in connection with the operation of the organisation and promotion of the Event.
    • You agree that the Personal Information relating to you can be stored, used by us and our partners in connection with the organisation, staging and administration of the Event.
    • You agree that the Personal Information relating to you may be anonymised and the anonymised data may be used by us and our partners in connection with the compilation of statistical information.
    • You agree that your name, image and contact details can be used by us and our partners for the purposes of:
      • the promotion and marketing of the Event;
      • adding you to a mailing list to keep you informed about any future events and services which we believe you might be interested in, such as leisure activities relating to either similar types of events or activities or future races;
      • promotional and marketing material in respect of similar events, other community- based activities organised by us and/or our partners.
  • I acknowledge and agree that:
    • Running is an endurance sport;
    • I should only undertake such an activity to a level that reflects my level of fitness;
    • I am responsible for monitoring my own physical condition prior to and during participation in the Event;
  • Runners agree that:-
    • they will self-record their time and provide evidence of their time and completion of the 5km run on the event finisher web form. LMEL’s decision on whether sufficient evidence has been provided is final;
    • only 5km runs taking place entirely on Tuesday 21 July 2020 will count and be recorded;
    • in completing the Event they will adhere to Government guidance including on social distancing and exercise.
  • I agree that LMEL and Standard Chartered may publish my personal information as part of the results of the Event and may pass such information onto the governing body (national or international) or any affiliated organisation for the purpose of insurance, permits or for publishing results either for the Event alone or combined with or compared to other Events. Personal Information here may include (but not be limited to) name, Event times, company, employment sector and age category.
  • Participant finisher T-shirts and Medals will only be posted out on the successful completion of the finisher web form by the participant and verification by LMEL.
  • The finisher web form should be completed as soon as possible after the Event so that the finisher T-shirt and medal can be sent. Completing this by 17:00 on Thursday 23 July means these will be received by 31 July for UK addresses.
  • T-shirts and medals will be sent by second class post to all verified finishers from Monday 27 July 2020.
  • LMEL will make best endeavours to offer the Finisher T-shirt size requested but this is not guaranteed. The closest alternative will be offered in the absence of the size requested.
  • LMEL is not liable for the loss or non-arrival of T-shirts and medals in the mail. Replacements may be considered dependant on stock levels.
  • This agreement shall be governed by English law, and the parties hereby agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
