The 2022 Standard Chartered Great City Race will take place in September following postponement
We are delighted to announce that the 2022 Standard Chartered Great City Race will now take place on Tuesday 6 September.
The popular corporate challenge was postponed for safety reasons when the UK Met Office issued a red warning for the original date of Tuesday 19 July, with temperatures in London reaching close to 40°C.
The rescheduled event will remain in the City of London, with the Honourable Artillery Company (HAC) Grounds once again acting as the Assembly Area. However, due to works taking place in the City of London at this time, the route will be amended slightly and, for this year only, will be 4K rather than 5K in length. The event start time has also changed to 19:30, as opposed to the original scheduled start time of 19:00.
All participants have been emailed with confirmation of the new event date. Anyone who is unable to take part on the new date will be offered the option of a refund.
Hugh Brasher, Event Director of the Standard Chartered Great City Race, said: “We’re very grateful for the support of Standard Chartered, the HAC, the City of London, Transport for London, the London Borough of Islington, the emergency services and many others who have worked with us to find this new date, and we look forward to a great event on Tuesday 6 September.”
Sonia Rossetti, Regional Head, Corporate Affairs & Brand & Marketing, Europe & Americas at Standard Chartered, said: “We’re very excited to announce Tuesday 6 September as the new date for the 2022 Standard Chartered Great City Race, and grateful to all those involved in making it happen. It’s so important to us to hold the event in 2022 following the disruption over the past couple of years. We’re really looking forward to seeing the runners at the HAC.”
The virtual element of the Standard Chartered Great City Race will also take place on Tuesday 6 September.
