Liverpool Football Club legend joins the 2020 Standard Chartered Great City Race
We are delighted to announce that Liverpool Football Club Legend, Patrik Berger, will be joining us for the 2020 Standard Chartered Great City Race as we #RunFromHome on Tuesday 21 July.
Patrik joined Liverpool in 1996 after impressing the team during the European Championships that year, playing for Czech Republic and finishing the tournament as runner-up to Germany. Thanks to his ‘deadly left foot’ in games against Leicester City and Chelsea, Berger was selected player of the month after just one month as a Liverpool player!
Berger’s scoring ability was evident as he finished his first Liverpool season with nine goals to his name. He flourished under the management of Gerard Houllier and his fantastic goals against AFC Wimbledon, Leeds United, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are forever kept in the minds of Liverpool supporters.
We’re excited to welcome Patrik to the Standard Chartered Great City Race this year, with the new format meaning our runners can take part at whatever time they choose and wherever they wish on Tuesday 21 July. Patrik will be running his 5K from his home country of the Czech Republic.
Good luck to all our runners!
