Thank you for supporting Seeing is Believing!
Since our first-ever Standard Chartered Great City Race, we’ve been delighted to have Seeing is Believing (SiB) as our official race beneficiary. SiB is a global initiative that was established by Standard Chartered to tackle avoidable blindness and visual impairment, and which set out to raise USD100 million between 2003 and 2020.
Thanks to the support of our Standard Chartered Great City Race runners, we’re thrilled that this target was reached in 2018 – two years ahead of schedule.
The impact of Seeing is Believing
Globally, there are an estimated 36 million blind people and a further 217 million people suffering from moderate or severe visual impairment. Incredibly, 80 per cent of all visual impairment can be prevented or cured.
SiB reached more than 176 million people through medical interventions, eye examinations, and eye health education and training between 2003 and 2018.
This was all possible thanks to your support. By entering and taking part in the Standard Chartered Great City Race over the years, you’ve helped to contribute to the funds for this important cause.
Standard Chartered’s support for people with visual impairments continues with Futuremakers by Standard Chartered, our new official race beneficiary and a worldwide initiative that aims to tackle inequality and promote greater economic inclusion for young people.
Thank you!
